T3 – 8/11/20

Hi all! It’s Coalition Day once again. Whoa how time flies! Where did that expression come from? Today at 3:30, we will have our August general coalition meeting, nearly 5 months into the zombie apocalypse know as COVID 19. We did our best Gloria Gaynor and have survived this. Look that up, youngsters!

As for me, I am about 11 weeks away from my little man coming into the world. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas. There will be a drive by shower in a couple weeks, but I will have to attend along with my family on Zoom. Sigh. It’s ok. I still intend to drive to Massachusetts for the birth or soon thereafter. Road trip!

In Coalition land, we are planning for our virtual Celebrating Champions For Youth event. 11/18 – new time: 6:00 pm. Flyer will be on the site hopefully this week. Meanwhile: get on out there on the home page and nominate a champion. There are 4 categories. 3 adult categories and 1 youth. Jump on over to the home page right this second and find out more.

Ok, are you back now? Good. Just this past week, we were able to assemble 250 family bags to share with our high school and elementary school families. Thanks to all who helped out!

Last week CBI, our dear friend Natalia Chimbo-Andrade, presented a Reversing Overdose training and we are distributing Narcan to the participants. There will be another one in September, which is also Recovery Month. So stay tuned for more on that.

We are still providing our monthly Link N Learns to the folks at SRP. Thanks, Keri, for all your hard work there!

But before I go, and I am headed to our storage unit to organize our tchotchkes, I want to say a big, hearty THANK YOU and FAREWELL to Keshawn and Lauren as they head off to college! You did lots of wonderful stuff this summer and I hope you have the time of your life at ASU and University of South Carolina. We all will miss you!

Have a great week, everyone! If you want to join today and don’t have the zoom link, email me at [email protected]. Seize the day! Ciao!
