Support Your Kids’ Interests So Marijuana Won’t Be One of Them is a community-based campaign that targets marijuana use among youth ages 11 to 15. The initiative asks that children and adults pledge to help prevent marijuana use among the youth.
Rx Drug Misuse
According to the Arizona Youth Survey 2018:
1 in 17 Tempe youth reported misusing a prescription drug in the last 30 days.
1 in 6 Tempe youth misused a prescription drug in their lifetime.
73% of Tempe youth that have missed a prescription drug used an opioid.
1 in 6 Tempe youth say there’s little or no risk in abusing prescription drugs.
Social Host Ordinance
Tempe is the first city in the East Valley to pass the Social Host Ordinance. Under the ordinance, anyone providing alcohol to a person younger than 21 can be held responsible.
