What? It’s Thursday?

Say it isn’t so! It is so! Well, this week, I join you for Tempe Thursday Talks. Sorry….I know you were sitting there longingly awaiting this and I let you down. I have been caught up in other things this week: the Democratic National Convention, hiring a new intern, getting two major reports done and attempting to stay cool in this blistering heat! Yowza! When will it end? Rhetorical question. Don’t answer.

Well, later this morning, I am hoping to get a rapid COVID test so that I can fly to Boston for Sunday’s baby shower. Light a candle and send me positive vibes that I can get the test and that, of course, it is negative. Only 10 weeks until baby time. So can’t wait!!!

So, we have a new intern. YAY! Her name is Carly Beauregard. You will meet her soon I am sure. She officially starts with us on Monday the 24th. I will tell you more about her next week. We are very excited to have her on board. Keshawn and Lauren are both off to school and we wish them the very best!

We are busily planning our November virtual Celebrating Champions For Youth event. Go to the home page to nominate and to register. That will be on November 18th, 6:00 pm.

We also are having our Tempe Coalition Strategic Planning Retreat on September 18th, from 9 to 4:30. If you want to join, please email me at [email protected] and I will send you the zoom link. It will be a fun event to plan for the future of the Coalition.

As well, there is always room to join any one of our committees: Education & Outreach, Events & Marketing, Youth, Sustainability, and Opioid. All our committees meet monthly and attend the Executive Committee meetings (monthly) to make all the decisions for the Coalition. We have a new co-chair for Education & Outreach – welcome Whitney Hensiak and a new co-chair for the Youth committee – welcome Mia Reza!

Ok, so there is only one day left to the week. So get on out there and do a rain dance and carpe diem!
