TTT- 7/14

Greetings friends and welcome to this week’s Tempe Tuesday Talks.

It’s Coalition day. We will meet via zoom this afternoon at 3:30. If interested in joining us (all are welcome), email me at [email protected].

Lots of things going on right now. Along with today’s jam packed agenda for our monthly general coalition meeting, we have two upcoming workshops.

7/29 4-5 pm, Understanding Prescription Drug Misuse – RX 360. To register go to https://rx360.eventbrite.com.

On 8/4 from 9 – 11 am, we will have a Reversing Overdose Training presented by Community Bridges. To register go to https://tempecoalitionoverdose.eventbrite.com. Participants will receive nasal NARCAN to administer upon receiving this training. This training is limited to 30 participants.

We also will be distributing drug disposal bags to those interested over the next month. These convenient pouches deactivate prescription drugs for safe disposal. If interested email [email protected] or stay tuned for our scheduled pick up opportunity.

The Coalition leadership and all of our committees are gearing up for the new federal fiscal year (starting 10/1) and we will be having our annual planning retreat, introducing new member packets, rolling out our updated bylaws and nominating some new leaders. Like a fresh coat of paint for the Coalition! A great time to jump on board and join the Tempe Coalition. We will continue to meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 3:30 and virtually for the time being. If you work or live in Tempe and are a concerned community member who wants to see a healthy, drug free, and thriving Tempe – reach out and join us!

So many unknowns in our world right now. The status of the virus, political and racial unrest, economic uncertainty. But through it all, we are still putting one foot in front of the other, waking up each day to new opportunity, and figuring out creative and unique ways to survive and thrive. Remember what you have to be grateful for. Remember to tell your friends and family you love them. Remember to take care of yourself. (Have that extra cookie!) Remember what really matters in life. And for now, remember to wear a mask, wash your hands, socially distance and just stay home!

Have a great week all! Stay cool.
